DC Focus 2017-2018 Snowboard Review | The Snowboard Asylum

The Focus is the most playful model in the DC range and is aimed at riders who are looking for an easy-going board. Whether you’re a newcomer to snowboarding or a more seasoned rider that likes that playful and buttery ride, the Focus delivers great performance at a super low price.

Built around a lightweight twin tip chassis it utilises DC’s advanced Radius 2 Flat sidecut. This innovative design increases the length of the contact points at the tip and tail giving the Focus the riding characteristics of an all-terrain board whilst still retaining that balanced freestyle feel. This is then perfectly matched to a forgiving reverse camber rocker profile which features a catch free 3° bevel on the edges. This combination makes turning almost effortless and will pretty much remove any likelihood of catching an edge, boosting confidence for beginners and pushing more experienced riders to try new tricks.

Internally, the Focus utilises DC’s Stratus Core, this FSC approved wood core combines poplar with beech stringers to give the perfect balance of performance and friendliness. That friendly nature is then carried over to the boards structural layers, these are formed from torsionally soft Bi-Ax weave glass, allowing the board to absorb terrain changes leaving the rider to concentrate on technique. To keep weight to a minimum and improve the overall flex of the board, the Focus features DC’s advanced ‘Tear the Roof Off’ technology. This does away with the traditional top sheet construction and replaces it with their own unique finish, reducing the weight of the board by up to 150grams. Finishing off the Focus is the low maintenance, easy repair True base.
