How is this board comparing to the malolo?
I wanna race!
Nice review, you clearly know this board well. This is the primo Jones board for big, aggressive riders. I’ve been riding 165W all 2017-18 season. I agree, it is worth every penny. Crazy fast and stable on groomers, precise in steeps and bumps, blasts through crud, floats and glides in powder. It’s a one-board freeride quiver!
I am digging this board but how well will it perform in powder? And i mean deep
This board does rip. I got the 65 W and I was surprised how much I can push it and not wash out. Its even great in the poo. It is $$ for a board but all top notch boards seem to be climbing in price these days.
Oh I just wondered with you riding the 162w of the flagship carbon , what is your weight height and boot size Matt?
Hi Matt
Hey how does this compare to your Rossignal XV magtek ?
I still haven’t decided whether I will pull the trigger on a 159cm Burton Branch Manager , a 163cm Rossignal XV magtek , the Jones Flagship Carbon or standard or a Jones Storm Chaser 147cm or 2019 model 152cm… or a burton pan handler
How does the Carbon measure up against the standard Flagship ? and also what size as a more pow orientated board should I be looking at in the Flagship?
My stats are height 175cm , size 10.5 boots and full kit including body armour 86kg.
I use Burton cartels , ROme 390 boss or Rome Katanas.
My main mountain I know you have boarded at is Mount Hutt so a lot of wind frozen ice and hard pack and icey traverses when there is powder.
I’m feeling the storm chaser would be more just for ultra deep pow days or trips to Japan or Canada.
I feel my boot size is in that tricky zone or waist width.
Thanks STeve
I could see myself going down the hill on this…sad thing is, my wallet doesn’t see it that way
How would you compare this to the Yes Pick Your Line? I have a PYL 162 and love it, light and fast at a more reasonable price point.
Almost surpassed what boards?
what board did it almost surpass? 😉
I picked up a 161 last year (but to my knowledge there is absolutely no difference between the 17 and 18 model other than the numbering) and I absolutely love mine. I’d say, give it a go with some stiffer bindings however, for me the carbon flagship works best with an all out stiff set up. I’ve paired mine up with both the burton X-Base and some DC T.Rice boots.
