Bataleon Evil Twin 2017-2018 Snowboard Review | The Snowboard Asylum

Celebrating its 13th year, Bataleon’s iconic Evil Twin is still seen as the go to board for freestyle riders who are looking for something that will destroy the park but which won’t restrict their riding when they get out into the mountains. With its almost unnatural versatility for what is essentially a freestyle board and its ability to embarrass many an all-terrain specific snowboard, it’s no-wonder that the Evil Twin is consistently one of the best-selling freestyle boards on the market.

Now one of the key reasons that the Evil Twin has stayed on top for so long is down to its constant evolution. Always staying ahead of the market in terms of design and construction, it has introduced technology which we now take for granted. For 17/18 Bataleon have kept up that tradition and have completely redesigned this year’s board. With an all new shape, all new construction as well as the stunning new 3rd generation TBT base profile, the new Evil Twin yet again redefines freestyle board performance. Heading up the new board is that new TBT, this reworking of the classic Twin 3BT adds a more defined transition between the flat centre base and the two upturned side bases. However, it’s the addition of the new Sidekick technology which transforms how the new board rides. By adding additional upturns at the contact points, Bataleon have energised the board. Turn initiation is instant, stability through the turn is improved and overall handling is stepped up to another level.

Now it’s not just the shape and profile that’s changed, in addition Bataleon have reworked the whole construction stepping up performance even further. In comes an all new wood core which combines poplar with bamboo stringers running through the centre. This creates a more playful torsional flex but adds a whole ton of pop through the length. Combine this with the responsive Tri-Ax glass and the Basalt cross bracing under the inserts and you’ve got that perfect balance of power and control that lets you cross from park to mountain without worry. Finally, the sintered Hyper Glide S base delivers a superfast glide in all snow conditions.
