Just rode mine for the first time over the weekend. Killer board and super versatile. Heard some bad things about pow performance prior to hitting the mountain but performed well for me even at it’s smaller size for me (6’4 220lbs riding a 159). If you’re in the market for a killer all mountain board that you can play around with, this is one of the better boards I’ve ridden.

what board would you guys recommend for a beginner?

Great review! Could you please help me resolve this dilemma 🙂

I am an advanced rider and had been rocking the 2014-2015 PROTO HDX 155 last season and must say, that thing is a BEAST! It is the best board I’ve been on! Now, the hype around this new version makes me want to upgrade!

I hesitate between the TYPE TWO 157, 155X and 158X. I’m really into those deep carves, but do not want to sacrifice on the descends from steep hills (groomed pistes) where I want to continue carving with smaller turns of course, and transition fast and easy.

My question is how much does the wide version lacks in maneuverability over the standard one? Is it tolerable? Do you have a bit more info on the size of the model that was tested?

I carve, butter, press, ride switch 25% of the time and don’t jib, 20-20 degrees duck stance
I weight 65 kg – 143 lbs

You can also check out a short snowboarding video from russia on my channel to get perspective of my style, I ride in green pants and on burton sherlock, which is a total fail compared to PROTO…

Peace guys!

I’m a bit torn between the size i should get.. I’m 86 kg (190 lbs) without gear and 189 cm (6.2 ft) and size 10.5 Nitro TLS shoes. I can get a deal on a 161 wide but i’m worried about that de wide version will make the board feel slower on the edge to edge..

Literally top tier brand. Expensive board, but guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Hey TWS  – I have ridden a Lib TRS 159 for the past few season and love it, but want something lighter with more pop…Thinking Firepower or Horsepower is the answer, but the Proto looks really good and it shares a lot of the same characteristics with the TRS. How did you guys find the pop on the Proto? Could you answer how it compares to a TRS?  Thanks

Zircon says:

Idk if I should get this or the funslinger
